Today we are discussing the Amy Biehl Foundation Trust case.
The discussion will be led by Professor Jim Phills, director
of the school's Center for Social Innovation, and Everett Harper,
MBA '99. Everett researched and wrote the case, which was emailed
to you. If you have not read that document, or if you need a refresher
summary, please open this url:

The discussion
is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Whether you arrive
late or early, we recommend you first familiarize yourself with

INSTRUCTIONS
This is our
first experiment with running a case discussion online and so
please be patient with us if we find that everything does not
work smoothly. Unlike a classroom discussion, you will not be
able to tell when someone else is about to speak. In order to
reduce confusion, Professor Phills or Mr. Harper may ask specific
people to respond. If they do not direct the question to one or
two persons by name, anyone can respond, but please don't send
any more responses to a question after two have already appeared
in the chat window. Chances are there will be a couple more already
en route, and to keep the discussion going, not everyone can answer
every question.
If you need
technical help, whisper your request to the technical assistant.
(FYI: Instructions for whispering, and other chat room features
are explained in the SITE ISTRUCTIONS document.)
To prepare
you briefly, here is a list
of the general topics we hope to cover. It may not be possible
to complete them all in the time allotted, but some of you can
stay online and continue the discussion after class if you wish.
If you are
now ready to join in the online discussion, then close this window,
and join in by logging on-if you haven't already.. We look forward
to your participation.
